Abstract
This study examines how the construction industry has systematically implemented the circular economy concepts through a thorough bibliometric examination. In this regard, the literature was exported from the Scopus database, Elsevier, dated 17 Feb 2024. For this, two keywords, circular economy and construction sector, have been used for bibliometric analysis of more than 957 documents from 2008 to Feb. 2024. The study synthesizes academic papers emphasizing sustainable built environment practices to pinpoint significant trends, novel ideas, and critical gaps. The aim is to review the situation of circularity integration in buildings today thoroughly. The research aims to improve sustainability practices in the construction sector by utilizing bibliometric insights to offer practical suggestions to industry stakeholders, legislators, and scholars. Further, the study focuses on the circular economy principles, their intersection with the construction sector, and the need for sustainable development and practices. Identification of critical ideas, assessment of success stories, investigation of obstacles, and appraisal of the efficacy of policies are all included in the analysis, and valuable outcomes and findings are added. The construction industry will benefit from this study's guidance and knowledge as it moves toward a more sustainable and circular future.
