Abstract

The expected growing number of network slicing use cases and scenarios introduces new requirements for 5G and beyond telecommunication architectures. Mobile users may switch between available network slices, which has emerged as a novel type of handover. However, session continuity has also come into the picture, introducing new parameters compared to the existing methods. Furthermore, session continuity must be ensured for nomadic users. This paper analyzes the literature to conclude what slice handovers can look like. Moreover, we propose a fuzzy-based control system for inter-slice handover decision-making and explain future directions regarding its implementation. Also, we suggest a test bed infrastructure for proof-of-concept demonstration and initial performance evaluation.
