Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the critical role of effective emergency management in the construction of temporary medical facilities. Case studies from China, Italy and Poland show how coordinated cooperation, innovative construction technologies and flexible approaches can contribute to rapidly increasing medical care capacity. The speed of construction of field hospitals such as the Leishenshan Hospital in Wuhan, based on prefabrication and modularity, has allowed for the rapid creation of functional medical units. The implementation of containers in the CURA program in Italy and modular solutions in Poland underscores the importance of modern technology in emergency management. In addition, the pandemic experience points to the need to consider the psychological comfort of patients and staff, which requires "humanizing" medical spaces through biophilic elements and better space planning. Lessons from these cases underscore that future crisis management strategies should rely on collaboration, innovative technological solutions and flexibility to effectively respond to health emergencies and improve the quality of medical care during a crisis.
